Let's Cross the Border- Swahili Fashion Week in Nairobi.

For the first time ever....Swahili Fashion Week is crossing the border to Kenya.
Swahili Fashion Week, East and Central Africa largest fashion event, now in its fifth year is advancing its showcase from Tanzania to Neighbor country Kenya by having a one night showcase in Nairobi on 6th October 2012

Swahili Fashion Week 2012 will collectively bring together 15 fashion and accessories established designers from Swahili speaking countries and beyond to showcase their creativity and forecast future fashion trends for the region.

“This year we have grown tremendously as we cross the border to mark our initiatives on making Swahili Fashion Week largest fashion event in East and central Africa where as our target is to showcase in all Swahili speaking countries and Nairobi is our first point to start with ” stated the founder of the Fashion week Mustafa Hassanali.

“Opening Swahili Fashion Week to a new audience, and keeping to the tradition of being the largest fashion platform this year we shall unveil collections by regions top designers giving the public a show that is different in creativity and cultural taste from the East Africa”, added Hassanali’

‘Audience should expect to see a blend of designers from East Africa showcasing their talent under one roof as we celebrate our fifth year after its inception in 2008, thus for the first time we have decided to cross borders and have our first showcase in Nairobi this year because our main aim is to be the most sought after fashion platform in Africa. So, Kenyans should expect a strong line up of designers whereby we will be featuring ten designers from the host country. Established designers who are renowned in the region like Moo Cow and Patricia Mbela (last year’s SFW East African Designer of the Year) together with designers Mohamed Bana, Morna Omondi, Shenu Hooda, Anna Adero, Jimmy Walji, Vaishali Morjaria, Annesophie Achera, Wangechi Muriithi , AFAD – Kenya.

Designer from Tanzania showcasing are Gabriel Mollel, Diana Magesa, Lucky Creations , Hameed Abdul and last years Emerging Designers Competition Award winner Sarah Masenga”. Said Washington Benbella the Swahili Fashion Week Manager.
