Diamond Platinumz among those Nominated for MTV EMA Awards-Best African Act

Johannesburg/Lagos, 9 September 2014:

MTV EMA season is underway!  MTV (DStv channel 130) has revealed the first four nominees for the Best African Act.  Davido(Nigeria), Goldfish (South Africa), Diamond(Tanzania) and Toofan (Togo) will be battling it out for supremacy in this hotly contested category. 

In addition, for the first time ever, MTV is putting an EMA nomination in the hands of the fans via social media, so music lovers everywhere will have the power to help select the fifth nominee for Best African Act. Fans can tweet and vote from the following list of artists to earn the fifth nominee spot using the hashtag #MTVEMAplus the relevant hashtag for your favourite artist from the following list:

The wild card Twitter vote is open until 14 September 2014 @ 11:59 CAT.  All “2014 MTV EMA” nominees will be announced and voting will open on 16 September 2014.

This is the fifth year that MTV has included a Best African Act category in the EMA – previous winners have included 2Face[2005], Freshlyground [2006], D’Banj [2007 & 2012] and LCNVL [2013].

The “2014 MTV EMA” will broadcast LIVE on MTV on Sunday 9 November at 22:00CAT from The Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland (pre-show from 21:00 CAT).

The MTV EMA – MTV’s global celebration of the hottest stars in music – recognizes artists from around the world and across genres, and brings together music fans everywhere for a one-of-a-kind experience in the weeks leading up to and at the show.
