Dar es Salaam: The graduation ceremony for the first group of graduates of the UONGOZI Institute Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Leadership is scheduled to take place on 21st March 2018 at the Institute’s premises, where a total of 30 participants will be graduating.
This first group of graduates comprises of senior police officers who were selected from different regions of the United Republic of Tanzania.  The Diploma program, encompassing 10 modules, focuses on enhancing leadership competencies in 3 areas, Making Strategic Choices, Leading People and Other Resources and Excelling in Personal Leadership Qualities.
The graduation ceremony will be officiated by Hon. George H. Mkuchika (MP), Minister of State, President’s Office, Public Service and Good Governance.  Minister of Home Affairs, Hon. Mwigulu Nchemba (MP) and the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Simon Sirro, will also be in attendance.

“We are pleased to note that 97% of the police officers that began the training will graduate. This has been an intensive and challenging programme, and the discipline and commitment they have shown is a true testament of their leadership capacity” said Prof. Semboja, CEO of UONGOZI Instiute.

UONGOZI Institute and Aalto University Executive Education of Finland have jointly been running the one-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Leadership, an executive programme that is designed to equip senior government officials with the necessary skills and competencies to provide sustainable solutions through effective leadership.

“Since we started this course back in April 2017, I have learnt a lot on how to solve challenges of all sorts whenever they come across my office. It is a very useful training, not only for police officers, but it needs to be offered to all other public servants across the country,” said Mr. Benedict Michael Kulyamba, Chief of the Human Resource Division of the Tanzania Police Force and one of the graduates.

The graduation ceremony will also be attended by 32 participants from the second cohort of the Post-Graduate Diploma in Leadership, scheduled to begin at the end of March. The second cohort includes senior government officials from various Ministries and Public Agencies.
